Webinar Synopsis
Schema Therapy is an evidenced-based treatment for Personality Disorders and ‘hard-to-treat’ presentations and problems. Derived from cognitive behavioural therapy, schema therapy incorporates and emphasises a number of affect change techniques, such as imagery rescripting and chairwork, and the concept of Limited Reparenting, in addition to cognitive and behavioural techniques in order to create change. Although Limited Reparenting, Imagery Rescripting and other techniques are crucial for emotional change, and can also be used to help individuals regulate, many individuals often need additional emotional regulation skills not traditionally taught in Schema Therapy. In this webinar, you will be taught a number of skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), an alternative-evidence based treatment for borderline personality disorder and other disorders of emotional dysregulation, and ideas on how to integrate these skills into a Schema therapy approach. This will be done through a mixture of demonstration, practice and the writer presenting clinical examples of teaching emotional regulation in Schema Therapy. This will ensure that your experience and understanding is practical and clinically applicable. To get the most out of this workshop attendees should already have a working knowledge of Schema Therapy and have attended some prior Schema Therapy training.
At the end of the webinar the presenter will have:
• Discussed the techniques and nuances already within Schema Therapy which can be utilised to regulate emotions
