Webinar Synopsis
Patients consistently rate working alliance, insight and session quality significantly higher than in regular therapy when dream work is included. Yet therapists consistently report feeling a lack of competence in this area due to lack of training. This workshop outlines the significance dreaming plays in the process of memory consolidation and in both the formation and retrieval of early schemas. Dream content contains these schemas using creative imagery and offers the therapist a portal to the vulnerable child mode often without the accompanying coping modes.
Recurrent nightmares of sufferers of PTSD and Complex PTSD require a different approach to that of working with dream material. The workshop covers why and how.
The workshop includes: didactic content covering the latest research from neuroscience on sleep and dreaming, video demonstrations and working in dyads with clients’ dreams. Training will offer you methods to:
- utilise dream material to access schemas, modes and unmet core needs
- connect and work with the vulnerable child mode
- distinguish between recurrent nightmares of PTSD and bad dreams and how to work differently with each
- All materials and the Zoom link will be sent out approximately 1 week prior to the webinar.
